Anti-mining protesters have pushed through security and on to private land occupied by Evolution Mining in Northland today.

There’s a strong security presence at the entrance to the site at Puhipuhi where the Australian mining company are operating.
Around 300 anti-mining protesters are expected from all over Tai Tokerau to support local iwi Ngati Hau.
Evolution Mining has been granted a permit by the Crown to mine for gold on Puhipuhi which is currently the subject of a Waitangi land claim.
Protesters are planning to occupy the land.
Several police officers are on standby.
